Driving to Illinois

We said our final good-byes to Gin and Syl, Jim and Linda and Tom, Marci, Nick and Bryce and left the park.
The traffic wasn’t so bad this morning and making a right turn out of the park helps.  The RV park is on a very busy highway that goes through Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.  Lots of traffic especially on weekends.
Denny did all the driving.  He is good to me.  We drove through Nashville and Kentucky stopping in Metropolis, IL for the night.  We saw some flooding on the drive back but thankfully the Fort Massac State Park campground was dry.
Fort Massac is the first state park in Illinois.  It includes the grounds where Fort Massac stood.  The fort played an important park in the Revolutionary War.

The campground has electric but no water at the sites.  We set up for the night and decided to drive downtown to see the superman museum and statue.

Denny went in but there wasn’t enough time to stroll through the museum.  He asked about a place to eat and they recommended Willy Jak’s

This is a local place that serves peel-n-eat shrimp.  So guess what I had?  That’s right the shrimp.  Of course, Denny had a burger.  The food was good.
We stopped at the Lois Lane statue.

Since we had time we decided to visit the museums tomorrow.
Denny will get his Superman adventure fix and I will enjoy watching him.
