Swimming and Visit to Waco

The heat continues and the kids looked forward to their swim date with Shyla and John.
Denny and I stayed in the rig and enjoyed the “cool air” while everyone else went to the pool.
They had a great time.P6090886
They came back to the house and swam in the little pool a while after dinner.
Saturday
We got another slow start but decided to go into Waco for lunch and to do some exploring.  We ate at a Cheddars Restaurant.  Good food.  The kids are learning to read a menu and pick and choose what they want to eat.  They know things can be fixed differently than the description on the menu.
We drove through the town and it is really a nice town.  There are great neighborhoods and nice shopping.  We happened to find the Dr. Pepper Museum.  What fun.  John took our picture under the sign.

There is an animatronics statue telling the story of Dr. Pepper in a replica of the original drug store/soda fountain.

They had some original vehicles used to deliver the Dr. Pepper syrup and later the soda in bottles.

Sunday
Shyla joined us today.  We decided to take another trip to Waco and visit the Cameron Park Zoo.
This is a beautiful zoo.  Lots of shade and air conditioned buildings to enjoy the exhibits in them and cool yourself off.  This was really good because John has to be careful if his body overheats.
The animals were active and the kids were really enjoying them.  Shyla was excited about seeing the komodo dragon.

After the zoo.  We were all tired form the heat and we went to Bush’s Chicken to get some chicken and the fixin’s for dinner.
Our adventures will continue tomorrow in San Antonio and Pedernales Falls State Park.
